Tonight I have been invited to do a private book presentation to a group of friends – bring and share dinner and I have made some of the world famous Edamame and Pea Hummus to take along. A large pot of it is currently sitting looking extremely green in a pot in the fridge – phytoestrogens, fibre, protein, flavour in a pot of versatility. A generous spoonful couldn’t fit in the pot but fitted perfectly on top of a bowl of salad for my lunch.
I still have to pinch myself that I am being invited to present my book. The author life! Even though it is almost a year since Eating Well for Menopause was published. Tonight will be interesting as it is a little different to the other events I have hosted. It’s not quite the same as sitting in front a little “audience” – much more informal and very personal.
A group of friends inviting me to an informal bring and share dinner. Less about presenting, more about turning a conversation into an informative and comfortable Q&A, still giving some background but really focusing on what they want to know. Has to be a little “au pif” as they say in France, ” off the cuff” and relaxed.
It’s not a cooking workshop, it’s not a slide show or a themed presentation for a specific topic. Simply a group of women who want to talk menopause and food.
Ahh! Now I put it like that, I know I have got this…..I just need to know when to stop or else we will be sat around the table at midnight.
I may not be the highly sought after “author” after dinner speaker but still there is a little something about getting invited to dinner to speak about the book I co-wrote!
What questions would you ask?
One of the lovely things said of the book is that it is conversational, it is based in science but not heavy. Accessible and readable, both easy to sit and read but also to dip in and out of. Practical. If you have a question, the book may have the answer.
