Thank you to Maisons-Laffitte International for allowing me to share some recipes from my new book Eating Well for Menopause! It was a lovely morning ending with lunch with some lovely women.
It was nice to share the journey of writing the book – how Laura and I got to that point, why we think it is so important to write a book that is science based for women at this stage in their lives and why food messages should be central.
Of course, it is lovely to spend time cooking with a group and be hosted by a lovely hostess to eat on her terrace – Muriel, I thank you.
We can share images and videos on social media for people to scroll through. But today was so special. Sharing the book and some of the food from it face to face was so real – the interaction and the tactile, physical experience so wonderful. Rounding off with sitting with some interesting women keen to chat about all things but interested in knowing more about food. It was so much fun, everyone forgot to take photos!
Writing a book is a journey and it is not over, we have the book but now it is time to share it and hope that the sharing finds people who will enjoy the recipes, learn what they need and put it all into practice. It’s one thing to get the words on the page, another to get the book out there in the world.
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with social media – maybe that is the same for most people. It is a source of connection and information on one hand but also the enemy of focus, an endless distraction.
Whilst it is time to get more creative and consistent on all those platforms, if anyone would rather get a small group of people together to cook and chat face to face, I am open to invitations and willing to travel.
If you would like to buy the book, it is available on Amazon wherever you live.
