Going through cancer treatment? Or know someone else who is?
Eating well through cancer can really support the body and help maintain strength through what is often a test of endurance. Cancer Support France is running a live webinar and cooking demo giving tips and tricks on World Cancer Day.
I will be cooking recipes from Recipes for Recovery whilst chatting with Kate Ogden of Cancer Support France as she shares some of her lived experience when she was being treated for cancer. Laura Wyness, co-author of the booklet, will be manning the questions. The event is designed to be a chance to talk food with people who are either living through cancer treatment themselves or are close to someone else who is.
Often, the advice cancer patients receive is to keep eating well. There is often no special dietary advice. However, cancer can throw a whole array of new challenges to eating well. From fatigue and brain fog to loss of appetite or changes to taste perception, the seemingly simple tasks of eating, shopping and cooking can be more taxing. For some women, cancer treatment can trigger early menopause adding the challenges that this brings to the mix.
Recipes for Recovery was written to address just this. Its not a replacement for specific medical or dietetic advice, but rather regular advice on eating well, with a specific focus on how to manage the challenges that face someone living with cancer. We also hope the event will help raise money for cancer charities in the process.
Cancer Support France has really taken this opportunity with both hands. The webinar promises to be a relaxed cooking demo (Lynn will feel like a veritable TV chef) as she chats with Kate (also a nutritionist) talking about her experiences with as many tips and tricks that can we can share. Make a donation, however small, to receive the details to access the book and to join us on the evening.
